An exhaust kitchen canopy hood serves multiple functions to improve air quality and comfort in the kitchen
• Removes Smoke, Grease, and Odors: The primary function is to extract smoke, grease particles, steam, and cooking odours from the air, preventing them from spreading throughout the kitchen or home.
• Improves Air Quality: By removing pollutants, it ensures cleaner and healthier air in the kitchen.
• Prevents Buildup: Reduces the accumulation of grease on walls, ceilings, and cabinets, making cleaning easier.
• Reduces Heat Loss: In colder climates, the fresh air system can include a heat exchanger to pre-warm incoming air, reducing energy loss and improving efficiency.
• Optimizes Airflow: The combination of exhaust and fresh air supply ensures optimal airflow, reducing the workload on HVAC systems.
• Some models are designed to operate quietly (Low velocity), making the kitchen environment more pleasant.
• The in-built design integrates both exhaust and fresh air functions into a single unit, saving space and maintaining a sleek kitchen appearance.
The specific wording in AS/NZS 5601.1 Clause 6.10.2.2 is not limited to grease filters located directly above the commercial catering appliance but rather incorporates any part of any grease filter which is within the minimum required exclusion area.
Therefore, the measurement is to be taken on a radius measured from the cooking surface to the grease filter above and incorporating any grease filters located to each side (in an arc).
